Our training programs cover a wide range of courses, including Basic First Aid, First Aid Levels II & III, Advanced First Aid, First Aid for Babies and Toddlers, First Aid for Commercial Drivers and Cyclists, Basic Life Support, Safety and Disaster Management, Occupational Health and Safety and Fire Safety and Fighting. In the community, we also offer Home based Care and Life saver international courses. To ensure the effective operation of our ambulances, we provide specialized training for Ambulance Drivers, Patient Transport Attendants (PTA), and Emergency Transport Attendants (ETA) During the year 2024, we trained over 1400 people majority being males.
First Aid Level 1 (Emergency Level)
This is basically an introductory course designed to equip individuals with fundamental life -saving skills including CPR, wound care, Basic bandaging, treatment of burns and scalds, dealing with chocking managing shock, severe bleeding to mention a few.

First Aid Level II & III (Standard and Advanced Level)
This course builds on the basics and covers more advanced first aid techniques. Topics may include Advanced CPR for children and adults including use of AED (Automated External Defibrillator), trauma, head, neck, and spinal injuries, shock management etc. On successful completion of First Aid level II, learners are legible to uptake First aid level III which is more comprehensive and typically designed for those in higher -risk or more specialized environments e.g. workplaces, remote areas. Or as professional first responders. This course includes Advanced patient assessment and history taking, Trauma care, Advance airway management, medical emergencies Advanced cardiovascular care, to mention a few.
Paediatric First Aid
This course is designed to equip participants with essential first aid knowledge and skills for handling paediatric emergencies, provide First Aid knowledge and skills in handling paediatric emergencies. It is specifically tailored for individuals who care for infants and toddlers including; Expectant mothers and new parents, Caregivers in baby care canters, Preschool teachers and house managers. The training covers common paediatric emergencies, immediate response techniques, and critical interventions to ensure the safety and well-being of young children.

First Aid For Commercial Drivers and Cyclists
This program focuses on first aid techniques for crash and trauma – related injuries resulting from road traffic accidents. It is designed for:
Commercial drivers (buses, trucks, and taxis operators) Boda-boda riders and cyclists.
The training emphasizes the following; On-scene safety interventions, Safe extrication of casualties, Helmet removal and rescue carries, Rapid body assessment, Neck and spine immobilization, positioning and managing unconscious casualties, Prioritizing casualty evacuation, Essential contents of an ideal Toad Traffic Accident (RTA) first aid.
Basic Life Support
St John Uganda’s Basic Life Support training adheres to internationally accredited International Standards and is suitable for; Out of Hospital First Responders, In-hospital Emergency care providers and medical training students. The course includes Artificial rescue breathing, Safe and appropriate use of Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
The theory focuses on the following: Identifying reversible causes of Cardiac arrest, Airway assessment and maintenance, recognizing vital signs of breathing and circulation and mastering the chain of survival protocol.

Additional Advanced Life Support
We also offer specialized courses, including Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Paediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
